Most dog owners will have been there.
It’s a scorching hot day, the car is getting a bit on the warm side and your pooch sticks their head out of the window to catch the fresh breeze on their face.
But many motorists are unaware this could land them with a hefty fine – and points on their licence, TeamDogs reports.
Car dealer Peter Vardy has warned that this seemingly innocent act could leave you with a £2,500 fine and three points on your licence.
We know that many pets like to stick their head out of the window, especially when it’s warm, but this could not only be a sign that your dog is not properly secured, it could also cause a serious distraction to the driver, or other motorists.

Although it’s not actually set out in law that dogs shouldn’t stick their head out of the window, you could still be pulled over for ‘driving without due care and attention’ and that’s what could get you in bother with the authorities.
By simply making sure your dog is properly restrained – with either a crate, a belt or a harness – you’ll help to make sure they’re safe, you’re focused on driving and other drivers are too.
