A witness has described the “horrific” scene outside a pub in south Wales after a car collided with tables full of punters, injuring six people.
Five ambulances were sent out following the incident at the Windsor Hotel pub in Llantrisant Road, Pontyclun, on Thursday evening, reports Wales Online.
The driver of the car – a 79-year-old local man – is believed to have suffered a medical episode before the crash, police said.
One person has suffered life-changing injuries and the driver is in a critical condition.
The other four have also been taken to hospital as a precaution, suffering from what are described as minor injuries.

An unnamed punter described how they heard a “massive crash” while waiting in the pub’s beer garden.
“I walked through to the back beer garden to wait while someone ordered drinks and there was a massive crash,” they said.
“It sounded like somebody had dropped a load of beer glasses.
“I walked into the pub and someone was on the phone to 999 and I could heard them saying they needed more than one ambulance.
“I went outside to see what was going on and it was just littered with people – there were several, maybe five, who looked badly injured.
“And many more who were sitting up with cuts,” they continued.
“The pub came alive and people were running around trying to help, looking for towels and pillows.”
They added that the car was too damaged to tell what make it was.
South Wales Police confirmed emergency services remain at the scene.
A force statement said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Llantrisant Road in Pontyclun near the Windsor pub.
“A vehicle has been in collision with a number of pedestrians.
“The public is advised to avoid the area while the matter is being dealt with.”
A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said there was a helimed at the scene along with a hazard response team, rapid response vehicles and “five conveying vehicles”.
The pub’s owner later took to social media to thank all bystanders for their help.
They said: “Hiya all. I have had a few messages in regards to the situation tonight.
“Everyone has been taken to hospital and the emergency services are on the case.
“Thank you all for your help. Thanks to all by standers who helped and all the emergency services.”
