The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has revealed how the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UniIlorin), Mallam Habidu Yazid Rafindadi rejected a juicy offer that many would have lobbied for from those in the position of authority today.
While noting the sterning qualities of the Pro-Chancellor, Governor Masari described him as a man of integrity and among the few Nigerians that could still be relied upon.
According to Governor Masari, Yazid’s accepance to be the University’s Pro-Chancellor was a great honour.
“It is an honor for us to always host Mallam Habidu Yazidu, whom we recognize and accept that he is among the few leaders with integrity foresight commitment and above all a very simple life.
“It may interest you to note that Mallam Habidu accepted to be a pro Chancellor of your university. It is an honour to the university.
“In fact, we have made him an offer for an office any one will lobby anyone in authority to get. We offered it to him on a platter of gold but he declined saying that he can longer work 7 days a week, 8am to 3pm.
“So, for me, it is an honor that he accepted to serve as pro chancellor of the University,” Governor Masari stated.
Masari made the remark when a delegation of the 13th Governing Council of University of Ilorin, led by its Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Mallam Habidu Rafindadi Yazid, paid him a courtesy visit at the state government house on Tuesday.
Mallam Habidu, while speaking during the courtesy call, disclosed that the essence of their visit to the state was primarily to visit the Chancellor of the University, the Emir of Katsina, HRH Kabir Usman to inform him of the forthcoming convocation ceremony of the University so that he could guide and instruct them on how he wants them to go about it.
“It is with the greatest pleasure that we sit before your Excellency this morning to present ourselves as members of the Governing council of the University of Ilorin.
“We have come to Katsina firstly to visit the Chancellor of the University, who is also the emir of Katsina to inform him that there will be a convocation of the council so that he will know and give us whatever instructions that he wants on how we may conduct the convocation,” the University Pro-Chancellor noted.
