An #EndSARS protester testified before the Judicial Panel of Inquiry in Lagos State over the atrocities committed by the army in the #EndSARS protests of October last year.
Ms. Kamsi Ochuko.
Little did the protester, Ms. Kamsi Ochuko, know that it would lead to an attack from unknown hoodlums suspected to be working for highly- placed individuals.
She had been standing at a bus stop at Sangotedo, near Shoprite in Lekki, Lagos, when the incident took place. She was suddenly accosted by three men.
They had a flashlight, which they shone in her face, before they assaulted her with the object, presumed to be a machete. The attack took place in the evening, while she was on her way back home.
According to her, the men told her that the attack was due to the testimony she gave against the army at the Panel of Inquiry
The three men proceeded to hit her with the machete. ” If we kill you, let’ s see how you’ ll continue to agitate (against police brutality), ” they said to her.
She responded that she didn’ t know what they were talking about, but this did not dissuade them. They gave her cuts and bruises on several areas on her body, including her hands, legs, and her back.
So brutal was the assault that the lady thought she was going to lose her life there and then. ” I thought I would die, ” she said, amidst tears.
” See on my back. See my hand. They beat me like I’ m a thief. Like I’ m a thief! I survived that attack by the grace of God, ” Ms. Ochuko lamented further.
Truly, those men, whoever they are, could have ended her life. Thankfully, she remains alive to tell the tale of her scary experience.
How could these people be so mean?
