The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has deployed personnel and operational assets to some communities including the Kuje and Tunganmaje axis of the nation’s capital to avert looming attacks.
The development followed an arrest of three suspects and the recovery of one locally fabricated firearm and also a vehicle loaded with food items being conveyed to an undisclosed area in the Kuje and Tunganmaje axis of the FCT.
In a statement issued and made available to DAILY POST on Thursday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, the command identified the suspects as Isah Haruna, 55 years old; Yahaya Haruna, 40 years old; and Sani Mani aged 70 years.
The statement read in part, “The CP noted that the operation which has since commenced has assisted the Police in arresting three (3) suspects; Yahaya Haruna, 40 years old; Isah Haruna, 55 years old; and Sani Mani, aged 70 years, for illegal possession of firearms and complicity in violent crimes including kidnapping and armed robbery in Kuje and Tunganmaje axis of the FCT.
“One Yahaya Haruna was arrested by operatives of the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit in Tunganmaje market on 29th September 2021 while in possession of a locally fabricated firearm. Investigations revealed that Yahaya is a member of a notorious criminal gang that has been terrorizing residents in Tunganmaje community”.
According to the statement, the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Babaji Sunday, assured residents of the territory of the “renewed commitment of the command in protecting their lives and property”,
The commissioner also enjoined them to continue to support the police by reporting suspicious movements to security operatives close to them.
