The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge could make a “high profile” visit to the US next year after their popularity there “took a bit of a nosedive”, a source has claimed.
William and Kate haven’t visited America since 2014 when they travelled to New York for a series of engagements.
On Sunday night, during the Earthshot Prize awards, it was announced by William that the US would be hosting the ceremony next year.
And a source says a visit to the US by the couple is “very much on the cards”.
They told Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl: “Team Cambridge is very focused on America and making sure they have a high profile over there.
“The possibility of them making a high profile visit is very much on the cards for next year.
“They are aware that their popularity took a bit of a dive post the Oprah interview, and that focus now is on getting that support back. America is a very important audience for them.”
Meanwhile, speaking on True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, Sunday Times royal editor Roya Nikkhah also predicted a US tour for the Cambridges.

She said: “I suspect there may well be a bit of a US tour from The Cambridges to put around [the ceremony], which will be very interesting in the year of Harry releasing his memoirs, which will be big news around the world, particularly in America.”
In their bombshell interview with Oprah, they both talked about their relationship William and Kate.
Harry talked about how his brother William was “trapped” in the system, while Meghan claimed Kate made her cry in the lead-up to her wedding.
Meghan and Harry also claimed one royal questioned how dark their son Archie’s skin would be before he was born.
If the Cambridges do visit the US, it is unclear if they would meet with the Sussexes.
And royal author Duncan Larcombe told Closer magazine, the prospect of William and Kate “going over there will no doubt rock” Harry and Meghan.
He said: “A royal tour to the US is long overdue. They are our most important allies and there is a huge appetite for the royals over there.
“Harry and Meghan have made the US their home and their target audience. So the prospect of William and Kate going over there will no doubt rock them.”
