Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) will leave the Emmerdale village soon.

The character has experienced an emotional time since baby Frankie’s birth.

Diagnosed with PND, Tracy has spent time in a mental health unit and is now continuing her therapy sessions, as well as learning coping mechanisms.

Recently, Tracy was devastated when Nate (Jurell Carter) confirmed he had slept with Fiona after all, who was revealed to be Vanessa’s (Michelle Hardwick) girlfriend.

Why is Tracy leaving Emmerdale?

Tracy has been offered a job in Nottingham after giving a talk at a PND seminar.

After speaking with Charity (Emma Atkins), Tracy remains undecided over whether or not to take the job, given her relationship problems with Nate, and recent Vanessa return.

Ahead of her final scenes, Amy Walsh explained why Tracy is contemplating leaving the village:

‘The village has got a lot of pain for her, and she just needs a break away from it. Nate’s instinctive reaction is fear’, she said.

‘He reacts on fear, talks her out of it and undermines her confidence. I think it comes from a place of not maliciousness, but it’s quite manipulative and conniving, as it’s all about breaking her down. But it comes from a place of fear, so he plays that card.’

Why is Amy Walsh leaving Emmerdale?

Amy is departing from the soap temporarily to go on maternity leave, following the birth of her first child with EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith.

So, as we know Amy has just had her baby, the exit storyline will probably see Tracy accept her new job offer.

Will Amy Walsh return?

Given the fact Amy is going on maternity leave, it’s highly likely she will return as Tracy in the near future.

However, it’s unknown just how long she will be away from filming.
