As Apple is launching its new 2021 iPhone 13 models — tech fans will be pleased to hear that there are reliable insights as to what to expect from the new smartphone.
Rumours regarding the new models have been circulating since before the 2020 iPhone 12 models even debuted, but now the wait is over.
It is nearly certain that the 2021 iPhone lineup will look very much alike to the 2020 iPhone collection.
iPhone users can expect the new models to include four devices in sizes that include 5.4-inches, 6.1-inches, and 6.7-inches.
Additionally, two of the iPhones will be characterised as higher-end “Pro” models, while the remaining two other smartphones will be attributed as the lower-cost and more affordable ones.
iPhone 13 design
There will be no drastic design changes to the new 2021 models. As a matter of fact, iPhone 13s will have the same feature set as the 2020 iPhones.
iPhones 13s will see no changes to the sizes, but will encompass a new 5.4-inch “iPhone mini”, as well as a 6.1-inch low-cost iPhone, a 6.1-inch Pro model, and a 6.7-inch Pro Max
iPhone 13 portless design
Even though there were early rumours that at least one iPhone in 2021 would feature a portless design, making the smartphone rely entirely on wireless charging, this year’s models will keep the same charging features.
Therefore, Apple is going to continue to rely on Lightning for the foreseeable future with no transition to USB-C, as well as abstaining from a portless design until MagSafe accessories are more common.
Nevertheless, portless iPhones could make an entry into the world of tech in 2022.
The new models will still be relying on Face ID identification, despite Apple considering adding an in-display fingerprint sensor to the iPhone 13 models.
However, the alternate biometric authentication method did not make the cut for the iPhone 13.
ProMotion technology and battery life
In terms of design, the new 2021 models are expected to comprise a smaller notch on the front of the iPhone, as a result of Apple being able to shrink down the Face ID hardware.
Additionally, there will be a smaller notch with the only major visual change to the front of the iPhone.
120Hz display refresh rates for Pro iPhone models are expected to be introduced, bringing the iPad Pro’s ProMotion technology to the iPhone for the first time.
The new smartphones are anticipated to be 0.2mm thicker, which is believed to facilitate a larger battery.
iPhone 13 camera
Furthermore, iPhone 13s will reportedly feature a much larger rear camera unit. The camera is also expected to come with new improvements, including a faster A-series processor.
Tech enthusiasts have also foreseen improvements to the Ultra Wide lenses on the “Pro” iPhone 13 models consisting of better performance in low-light conditions and improved autofocus.
Moreover, the standard iPhone 13 model with dual-lens camera setup might potentially see its lenses arranged diagonally rather than a vertically.
The new 2021 iPhone 13 models are expected to have a larger battery capacity than the iPhone 12 models.
In addition, the 2021 smartphones will use a 5-nanometer A15 chip that will bring speed and efficiency improvements, plus 5G connectivity will improve thanks to Qualcomm’s X60 modem.
