Two teenage girls were led into woodland before being sexually assaulted, police said as they hunted two older teen suspects.
The double sex attack happened on Wednesday evening while people were sweltering in the country-wide heatwave.
Police were called to woodland near Mill Lane, Felbridge, Surrey after the two boys, described as older teens, fled, leaving their victims shocked and scared.
A spokesman for Surrey Police said on Thursday: “We are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault that occurred in the woodland on Wednesday at around 7pm.
“The victims, two teenage girls, were led into the woodland by two young men and sexually assaulted. The suspects then fled the scene.
“The first suspect is described as being in his late teens, white, around 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. He has a light brown beard and light brown hair. He also is described as having an upper arm tattoo of a cross with rosary beads and the name ‘Tammy’.
“The suspect was wearing a grey tee shirt and shorts and blue and white trainers.
“The second suspect is described as also being in his late teens, white, around 5ft 8ins tall and of a slightly heavier build.
“He has dark brown slicked back hair, a sleeve tattoo on his right arm and a rose tattoo on his left hand. The suspect was wearing blue McKenzie swim shorts, a tee-shirt and black Nike trainers.”
Detective Inspector Karen Hughes, said: “We are taking this occurrence very seriously and would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident.
“We are also aware of ongoing anti-social behaviour in this particular area and understand that the local community are rightly concerned. We are working hard to tackle these issues and have increased patrols and police visibility in the area.”
