Donald Trump had McDonald’s ordered to hospital while being treated for Covid

Donald Trump is said to have ordered McDonald’s to his hospital while suffering with Covid-19 last year.

The former US president ordered the food to be brought to his room during his stay at Walter Reed Hospital in October 2020, according to an upcoming book by his former chief of staff.

The book, called ‘The Chief’s Chief,’ by former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, states that Trump seemingly did not lose his sense of taste, as some COVID sufferers have reported, and instead, demanded takeout be brought to him during his hospital stay.

According to Meadows, staff had to ‘eat with face shields on at the doctor’s orders, which didn’t thrill any of them.’

The 75-year-old typically orders two Big Macs, two Filet-of-Fish sandwiches and a chocolate milkshake when ordering McDonalds.

Trump’s love affair with junk food is no secret

Trump’s love affair with junk food is not a secret – according to a previous book by former aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, his four ‘major food groups’ are McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza and Diet Coke.

Before becoming presidet, Trump had featured in advertisments for Pizza Hut and McDonald’s, and his fast food intake was an element of his brand. The connection between Trump and fast-food chains stayed strong during the presidency.

Republican strategist Russ Schriefer said: “‘There’s nothing more American than fast food. It is the peculiarity of the brand that he’s able to be on his multimillion-dollar jet with the gold and black branding and colors and at the same time eat KFC.

Back in October, Trump praised Meadows’ book, calling it an “incredible Christmas present” for anyone who wanted “to learn about politics, truth [and] our great administration.”

But he has since backtracked his support after the book questioned Trump’s COVID-positive timeline.

Meadows wrote that Trump tested positive for Covid, then negative, just three days before he got on the debate stage with Joe Biden.

Trump denied the claims and said: ”The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News.”
