Fire on Thursday gutted parts of Delta State Police Command headquarters in Asaba, destroying the communication control room.
Barely four weeks that a section of the Delta State police headquarters was gutted by fire, another section of the headquarters on Thursday was engulfed by fire.
Report gathered that the fire, which razed the control room of the command around 2.45pm, affected parts of the control room., caused panic among police officers and passersby.
The fire was said to have destroyed properties with millions of naira at the police headquarters.
Report gathered that it took the timely intervention of the state fire service to save the situation even as communications gadgets at a small portion of the control room were gutted.
When contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and said the inferno was immediately extinguished.
Edafe stated, “Yes, there was fire but it only affected a section of the control room and has been extinguished.
“Meanwhile investigation into the incident has commenced. The commissioner of police urge members of the public to ignore any rumor contrary to the actual fact stated above”.
