The Osun State Government has said it would become more aggressive in its publicity and enlightenment to citizens on the dangers of COVID DELTA strain, as part of its efforts to rid the state of the pandemic.
Stating this during a COVID-19 sensitisation rally on Wednesday in Ikire, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode also warned residents to adhere strictly to the guidelines and safety protocols against the pandemic as a way of prevention and in the interest of personal and collective safety.
Represented by Raphael Ojo, the Director, Grassroot and Public Enlightenment in the Ministry, Egbemode assured that the state government will continue to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of its citizen.
She charged the people to assume the duties of change agents adding that propagation of the COVID-19 safety protocols in their domain is a civic duty.
She advised residents to avail themselves the COVID-19 vaccination and ensure that they are administered with the first and second doses as part of protective measures.
Recall that the Osun State Government had publicly launched the administration of the two-dose Moderna vaccination in August.
Osun State had received 47,900 doses of the Moderna vaccines for the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise and also added were Astra Zeneca for citizens that were not able to get the second jab during the first phase of the exercise.
The state government also revealed that it was supplied with one dose Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine which it intended to administer on people residing in hard to reach areas within the state.
