The prime minister’s young family are seen enjoying winter sunshine on the English coast in new photos shared by Carrie Johnson.

Ms Johnson, 33, posed with month-old daughter Romy snuggled in a baby carrier while 20-month old Wilfred paddled in shallow seawater.

It’s not known if Boris Johnson joined them, although one of the pictures appeared to have been taken by someone of his height.

The family are known to be highly guarded of their privacy while on holiday, never publicly sharing the location of their destination.

Ms Johnson is also careful never to publish photos of Wilfred’s face.

Reports suggested the pictures may have been taken in Thorpe Bay in Essex.

The streatching beachside and sight of white cliffs across the water also prompted speculation they were instead in the area around West Wittering in West Sussex.

The pictures also showed the family’s terrier, Dilyn, running alongside Wilfred.

It appears the family has since returned to London as Mr Johnson was pictured on a morning run with Dilyn on Monday.

He faced a fresh wave of pressure from across the political spectrum to tackle a growing cost of living crisis fuelled by rising energy prices.

The family’s last holiday abroad is thought to be their late summer break in Marbella, staying at a villa owned by their friend and Cabinet minister Lord Goldsmith.

In November, they enjjoyed a trip to Peppa Pig World in Hampshire, where Boris was seen driving Wilfred around in a mini electric car.

He later raved about the trip in a flailing segue after losing his place in a speech to the Confederation of British Industries.
