TV icon Alison Hammond has paid tribute to her mum, two years on from her death.
The This Morning host, 46, took to Instagram to share a beautiful picture of late mum Maria with a heartfelt caption.
Sharing a snap of her mum in her younger days, wearing a patterned purple dress, Alison shared how the pain is still very much with her.
She wrote: ‘Mummy Two years today you left me and the pain has never left my heart . I love and Miss you sooo much . I hear and feel you all the time . My Angel Maria ❤️❤️❤️’
Her comments section was quickly flooded with love and sympathetic wishes from fans and famous friends.
Holly Willoughby commented: ‘Ah Alison… sending huge love to you ❤️’
Gemma Atkinson added: ‘Ahh Alison.. sending lots of love ❤️’
Alex Beresford, Clara Amfo and Georgia Toffolo also left emojis and kisses to show their support.
Meanwhile, actress Sunetra Sarker referred to Maria as ‘one of the loveliest mums of them all.’
Alison’s beloved mum died from liver and lung cancer in 2020.
Announcing the sad news at the time, the former Big Brother star shared a series of photos of her mum – one of which showed her smiling wearing a yellow top while sitting on a hospital bed.
Alison wrote: ‘I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful , wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer.’
‘Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.
‘Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now. I will always remember you and try and make you proud. I love you mum.’
The star added on Twitter: ‘RIP my best friend and Living Angel please come to my dreams.’
Alison was always close to her mum – who hailed from Guyana – and spoke of how her mum worked hard to make Christmas special a couple of years ago.
She said her mum even got up in the middle of the night to start prepping lunch for the family.
‘I’ll be honest, I just do the vegetables and gravy because I can’t be bothered. My mum gets up at like 2am to cook a turkey. It’s crazy. I’m not doing that. I need my beauty sleep,’ she laughed to OK! magazine.
Alison also lost her dad shortly after her mum’s death in 2020.
Her dad – who lived in Jamaica – died four months later in June, with Alison sharing on social media that she didn’t get to spend as much time with him as she would’ve liked.
She said she was ‘saddened’ to not be able to attend dad Clifford’s funeral and was left with ‘a sense of loss and emptiness.’
When co-hosting her first The Morning show on alongside Dermot O’Leary, Alison shared her ‘pain’ of losing both her parents in short succession.
The Celebs Go Dating star comforted a caller whose dad recently died, by assuring her ‘you are not alone’ and explaining how ‘touched’ she was by her story.
