Shocking video shows the moment right before an elderly Massachusetts man was surrounded and assaulted by a gang of as many as 40 ATV riders and dirt bikers last week.
The man, 82, who did not want to be named by police or his family, suffered serious injuries and remains in a local hospital.
The incident took place last Thursday. At around 7:30 p.m., he was driving his 1996 Buick Century from Park Drive to Boylston Street, approaching the Bowker Overpass in Boston.
The man observed about 30 or 40 off-road motorcycles and ATVs approaching his vehicle.
The gang forced him onto the curb on the right-hand side of the road, and several of them began smashing the windows of the victim’s car.

The scene as nearly 40 ATV riders and dirt bikers surrounded an 82-year-old man in Boston last Thursday
The riders did considerable damage to the victim’s 1996 Buick Century before assaulting him
The 82-year-old man was able to get away and attempted to drive to a police station for help, but the dirt bike and ATV riders followed him and began striking his car again.
He attempted to take an off-ramp in the suburb of Allston but got stuck in traffic at the top of an offramp. He then rolled his window down to try to get a neighboring car to call 911 when one of the riders approached.
The rider, a man, began punching the victim through the window. At the same time, other riders continued to kick the car.
One of the suspects threw a piece of pipe through the car’s rear window, while another threw a large rock through one of the car windows.
Eventually traffic being to move again and the victim was able to make a left turn onto Cambridge Street in Allston.
The victim’s family and state police both say they have no idea why they attacked the victim
The victim’s car remained in driving condition despite suffering numerous attacks from the riders
He then drove to a local convenience store, where he got out of his car and fell to the ground.
Local EMS responded and transported him to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton.
“He’s still beat up and swollen, he’s still in a lot of pain, but he’s getting stronger and getting better every day,” his daughter, who is also keeping her identity anonymous, said. “That’s the hardest thing for us to wrap our heads around that there’s people out there that are violent, angry, careless.”
The victim had a heart valve replaced recently, according to his daughter. No one in the family knows why their dad was attacked, or what the group’s intentions were.
State police are still searching for anyone who may have been involved.
‘This was a despicable and cowardly act; the investigation is proceeding and we welcome any assistance from members of the public who may have witnessed all or part of this incident or who saw this group in Boston that night,’ a spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police told DailyMail.com
